Hiatus

Work has been hectic. I haven't quite had the motivation to get around to organising my photos at home and bring them into work. But as of next week I will again be living somewhere with an internet connection, and as illogical as it seems, this will hopefully make it easier to get around to posting a bit more often.

Meanwhile, this echoes something I've been thinking for a while. I agree with it wholeheartedly. It also makes me sad.

At the same time: yes, travel is undoubtedly environmentally damaging, and this is undoubtedly a problem. But I also believe that travel is socially beneficial in so many ways - to the individual, of course, but I do think that it makes a lot of people more tolerant of others, at the very least. And I think this is a Good Thing.

Or am I simply justifying my own intention of continuing to travel?

Not sure what the answer is. I heard somewhere that raising air fares won't actually make much difference, because despite the apparent increase in affordability, most of the flying is still done by the richest members of our society, and an increase won't necessarily hurt them all that much. Which makes sense, I guess. Those cheap seats are really just the "leftovers", since it's better for the airline to have people paying even a few bucks for a seat rather than leaving it empty.
