Some Australian-ness

Because we had a lot of these:

... and because S. (a couchsurfer from Köln) has recently moved in, I felt the need to make some of this:

Bread credit: Brown's sourdough baguette from the Vic Markets. Yum!

... and because that and something else I was cooking last weekend used a lot of egg yolks, I figured that was a perfect excuse to make a couple of these:

Recipe credits: Stephanie Alexander's Cook's Companion provided the lemon butter recipe. I've made lemon butter a number of times before, but not for years, so I had to call mum to ask her to check my Stephanie Alexander for me. Best lemon butter recipe I've ever come across. Because it uses only yolks, it's richer than if you use the whole egg, and you don't get those flecks of whites in the finished product (cos you can NEVER get it blended enough to get rid of those).
And I found the pavlova recipe in one of P.'s (my flatmate) old Woman's Weekly cookbooks. Enough said!

HA - I knew you had to do it. Seems there was 'no' encouragement at all from your housemates. XO8 mum

Well, there was encouragement - but it was my idea, my suggestion - no pressure, only lots of enthusiasm from one housemate and useful hints and recipes from the other!
