I do intend to put some pics up from Germany soon, but for now, you'll have to all be jealous of all the delicious chocolate I ate (and brought home from) there.
First off, I've serendipitously discovered quite a brilliant chocolate: Heilemann (the website is, apparently, under construction). At least, their chili chocolate is fantastic!

And I got to play around with an old favourite, Zotter, who make possibly the most excellent ginger chocolate imaginable, as well as having an enormous range of interesting flavours (many of which are rather bizarre). They are Austrian, but many German towns seem to have a shop that stocks some. Oddly enough, the big and wonderful chocolat in Cologne didn't have the ginger, but fortunately I did find some in Heidelberg. (Just in case I didn't find any in Heidelberg, I had to buy some Hachez Ingwer chocolate in Cologne - not yet sure what it's like. And some of their fabulous dark chocolate leaves.)
I also found a Bärenland in Cologne, so got my Honig-bären fix (turns out the chain is called Bären-Treff in Heidelberg).
About Heidelberg: I have never seen so many confectionery stores in such a small area! And tea shops, for that matter (got some yummy herb teas, too).
This is all going to last me for months! I'm going to be bringing it out only for special occasions and good friends. But just having good chocolate in the house makes me happy.
Oh, and when I went down to London a few weeks before Christmas, I also bought myself some Valrhona Ganache Thé Jasmin. Mmmmmmmm. I think this is my favourite chocolate of all time.

Finally, I was drinking hot chocolate at the fabulous Vaults & Garden this afternoon. I should ask them what hot choc mix they use, and where I can get it. I haven't been going as much as I used to go (hi, R.!). I should maybe spend some time studying there, to make up for it.

It's great to think of you at the Vaults Garden having a cocoa. Must say, Brisbane has not inspired much cocoa drinking in me. Maybe next winter...if I recall correctly, I was cold a number of times.
